Chilean Empanadas
Chilean Empanadas are a beloved traditional dish in Chile. These delicious pastries are filled with a flavorful mixture of seasoned ground beef, onions, olives, raisins, and hard-boiled eggs. They are perfect for a snack, lunch, or as party food.
I first tried Chilean Empanadas during a trip to Chile, and I instantly fell in love with their unique combination of flavors. Now, I enjoy making them at home for special occasions or whenever I crave a taste of South America.

Ingredients:
- 500g ground beef
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup pitted green olives, chopped
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 4 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Empanada dough (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef until browned. Add the onions and cook until softened.
- Stir in the olives, raisins, chopped eggs, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the empanada dough and cut it into circles using a round cutter or a small plate.
- Place a spoonful of the meat filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together and crimp with a fork to seal.
- Place the empanadas on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the empanadas are golden brown and crispy.
