Traditional Swedish Meatballs Recipe
Swedish Meatballs, also known as 'Köttbullar', are a classic dish hailing from Sweden. These delicious meatballs are typically made with a mix of ground beef and pork, seasoned with a combination of spices like allspice and nutmeg, then cooked to perfection and served with creamy gravy. They are a popular dish worldwide and are often enjoyed with lingonberry jam on the side.
Ingredients:
- 500g ground beef
- 250g ground pork
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter for cooking
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
- Add the ground beef, ground pork, onion, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper to the soaked breadcrumbs. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1-inch in size.

- To make the gravy, add a little more butter and flour to the skillet to make a roux. Slowly whisk in beef broth and cook until thickened.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer for a few minutes in the gravy.
