Pakistani Nihari - A Rich and Flavorful Delight

Originating in the Indian subcontinent, Nihari is a traditional slow-cooked stew that is popular in Pakistan. This dish is known for its rich, aromatic gravy and tender pieces of meat that have been simmered to perfection.

  • 4-5 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • Ginger julienne, chopped cilantro, and green chilies for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat ghee in a large pot and fry onions until golden brown.
  2. Add meat, ginger-garlic paste, and all the spices. Cook until meat changes color.
  3. Sprinkle wheat flour over the meat and mix well.
  4. Slowly add water while stirring continuously to avoid any lumps.
  5. Cover and simmer on low heat for 4-6 hours or until the meat is tender.
  6. Once the meat is cooked, increase the heat to thicken the gravy.
  7. Garnish with ginger, cilantro, and green chilies.
  8. Serve hot with naan or steamed rice.
