Welcome to my kitchen! Today, I want to share with you a delicious Hungarian street food delicacy - Langos. Originating from Hungary, Langos is a simple yet satisfying deep-fried bread that is often topped with a variety of savory and sweet toppings. It's crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, making it a perfect treat for any time of the day.

Traditionally, Langos is served with garlic, sour cream, and grated cheese, but you can get creative with your toppings and customize it to your liking. Whether you prefer a savory or sweet version, Langos is versatile enough to suit all taste buds. It's a popular snack at markets and fairs in Hungary, and now you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own home!

Ingredients:

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 7g active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 300ml warm water
  • Oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1-2 hours.
  4. Once the dough has doubled in size, divide it into smaller portions and shape them into rounds. Let them rest for another 30 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 180°C. Flatten each dough portion into a disk and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Remove the Langos from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

I hope you enjoy making and indulging in this Hungarian Langos as much as I do. It's a delightful dish that brings a taste of Hungary to your home kitchen. Don't forget to share your creations with me!
