Traditional Romanian Mici Recipe

One of the most beloved dishes in Romania is Mici, which are flavorful skinless sausages made of minced meat and a blend of spices. These delicious sausages are popular at family gatherings, barbecues, and street food stalls throughout the country. Mici are typically made with a mix of minced beef, pork, and lamb, giving them a unique and rich taste.

Ingredients:

  • 500g minced beef
  • 250g minced pork
  • 250g minced lamb
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 50ml cold water

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the minced beef, minced pork, and minced lamb until well combined.
  2. Add salt, black pepper, sweet paprika, dried thyme, minced garlic, and cold water to the meat mixture. Mix thoroughly to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the mixture rest in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Shape the meat mixture into small sausages, about 10cm long and 2cm thick.
  5. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the Mici for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.
  6. Serve the Romanian Mici hot with your favorite condiments and sides. Enjoy!
